Questions

Frequently asked.

Quick answers about mobile dashcam installation, service areas, and what to expect when you book with Wizard Installs.

Are dashcams legal in New Jersey, New York, and Maryland?

Yes. Dashcams are legal in all 50 U.S. states. We install units in a safe, unobstructed position that won't violate any windshield obstruction laws.

Do you offer mobile dashcam installation in New Jersey, NYC, and Baltimore?

Yes. We are a mobile installer serving New Jersey, New York City, and Baltimore, Maryland. We come to your home, office, or anywhere that's convenient — no shop visit needed.

How long does a dashcam installation take?

Most single-camera installs take about 45–60 minutes. Dual-channel setups run about 60–90 minutes depending on the vehicle. Multi-channel builds with parking mode can take up to two hours. We'll give you a time estimate when you book.

Do you install front and rear dashcams?

Yes. We install front-only, front-and-rear, and multi-channel systems depending on your coverage needs.

What's a parking-mode hardwire?

A hardwire kit connects your dashcam directly to your car's fuse box so it can record while the engine is off. It includes a voltage cutoff to protect your battery. This is how you get 24/7 recording — catching hit-and-runs, break-ins, or anything that happens while you're parked.

Can I supply my own dashcam?

Absolutely. If you already own a dashcam, we'll install it for the same price. Just make sure it comes with all the hardware (mount, cables, SD card). If anything's missing, we can usually source it.

Do you help me pick the right dashcam?

Yes. We recommend models based on your budget, vehicle, and coverage needs. For most people we suggest the Viofo A229 Pro (front + rear 4K) for the best value, or the BlackVue DR970X if you want cloud features. Just call us at (908) 320-6385.

Will the installation affect my vehicle warranty?

Our installs are clean and non-invasive — no drilling, no cutting, no permanent changes. We route cables through existing trim panels. This approach is designed to have zero impact on your factory warranty.

What if it rains on the install day?

We'll reschedule for free. Dashcam installs need a dry environment since we're working with adhesive mounts and open trim panels. We'll text you the morning of if the forecast looks bad.

Can dashcam footage be used for insurance claims?

Yes. Dashcam footage is widely accepted as evidence for insurance claims and accident disputes. Having clear video of an incident can make a major difference in how a claim is resolved.

Is dashcam footage private?

Yes. Footage is stored locally on the dashcam's SD card and never leaves your vehicle unless you choose to share it. Cloud features — like remote viewing or automatic upload — depend on the model and are always opt-in.

Do you offer fleet or commercial installs?

Yes. We support fleet and commercial vehicle installs with multi-channel setups and parking mode. Pricing varies for commercial vehicles — get in touch and we'll put together a quote.

Do you also install backup cameras and radar detectors?

Yes. In addition to dashcams, we install backup cameras and radar detectors. Get in touch and we'll put together a quote for any of these services.
